Dec 25th is the only full day I will be in Singapore - will everything be closed? I've never been there before and would like to do some sightseeing and shopping.

I go there regularly for vacation and have been there a few times on Christmas day, but remember that most places were closed and the day after Christmas is a mad house because all of the big sales start and Orchard Road especially is jam packed with people standing in long lines outside of the department stores and being let in a few people at a time. So, Christmas day is not a good time.Christmas time is not a good time...tons of people everywhere. Maybe some places in non-Christian areas of the city will be open. Too bad you only have one day as Singapore is a great place. I just got home on Aug 30th from my Singapore/Bangkok vacation. Happy Travels!
Some big dept stores will be closed on the day itself. You could still visit Orchard Road in the evening for the Christmas lights. Normally it lasts for a month or so. You could still shop at Mustafa which is open 24 hours a day.
Eating places would still be open so you won't starve.
