Approx 500 kms. . Allow 10 hours if all goes well ( unlikely!). I think there are now direct flights which take around an hour.

Wow. Thank you. That may be too much for a cruise stop even if we decide to go with a ships tour to be sure we are back on time.

How long would the cruise tour give you in SR? Three nights is the absolute minimum, assuming you arrive in time to see something on your arrival day, and four is better. Anything less you'd be better off seeing some of the coast - e.g. Kompot - and snorkeling.

It's in port 9 hrs. They offer a tour to AW but how they can do that is beyond me.

I doubled checked. There are no specific excursions up yet as its too far out but this is what is noted on their itinerary page;

0700-1600. Sihanoukville (for Angkor Wat).

It seems to me that the wording implies a tour there but how they will manage this in the time allotted given the distances crellston has noted seems like basically a drive by.

Thanks again.

Presumably they fly. But totally not worth it, you'd just get a taste and not want to leave.

I agree. It's not worth the hassle and if they fly I'll bet the air thru Princess is high.

A little research turned up these:

Looks like you skip a night on the boat and rejoin in BKK. But it would still give you a ridiculously short visit in SR. Don't know what your itinerary is, but I would visit SR before or after the cruise if feasible.

Your best bet woul be a drive to Kampot a nice riverside town an hour or so away. There are tours from there lasting a few hours which will take you out into the countryside to visit the salt fields, pepper plantations and maybe even the beach at Kep about 15 kms away ( famous for its crab market - delicious!)

Well thanks for the advice and the possibilities. I will have to see what Princess has for an excursion and if thats what we want to do. It may be too much in more ways than one but we will have to see. I know my wife will likely not want to overnight off the ship so it that is a part of it that we will most likely not partake of their excursion.

As you have both said Kampot seems more feasible. I will look into that.

Cheers, Larry.
