side trip from singapore for weekend

I am working in Singapore and would like to take weekend trip away. What are my choices?Have been to Thailand, HK, Penang, Kinabalu, Burma, Vietnam. Was thinking of Christmas Island. Langkawi?? Relaxation, wildlife viewing, etc would not be unwelcome. Nothing too ambitious but interesting and memorable just the same. Many thanks. Specifics regarding where to stay would be appreciated as well.

Bali is an easy commute from Singapore. Visa on arrival, lots of choices in accommodation, relaxing and interesting, culture and nature. Not much wildlife, though, except some of the tourists.

Christmas Island is a looooong way away from Singapore.

Langkawi is an option - there are non-stop flights. What about Bali? or Central or Eastern Java? You mention Kota Kinabalu - what about Kuching?

If by Eastern Java you mean Surabaya, Malang and Mount Bromo area, then the best way to get there from Bali is to fly from Denpasar to Surabaya on an Indonesian carrier.

You can also take a local ferry from the northwest corner of Bali to the far east coast of Java, but that's more in the category of adventure travel.

Kuching is a charming city. You can just stay in Kuching, stroll the water front, shop, go to the museum, etc. You can also to go to Bako Park from there.

Central Java - Yogyakarta - go to Borobudor and Prambanam.

Eastern Java - visit volcanos, Bromo and Ijen
