Short stay in Bali on a budget

Jump to last reply

Hi guys,
I would love some info on what would be the best place to stay in Bali on a budget . There is a group of about 7 or us going for just a couple of days. We are looking for outstanding beaches to relax on, access to great nightlife, restaurants with local flavor and proximity to sightseeing attractions.... All on a budget as we are flight attendants late 20s to early 30s. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

I would look at the Petitenget or Oberoi neighborhoods of Seminyak Beach. There are plenty of moderate hotels and plenty of restaurants, clubs spas and shops, but the atmosphere isn't as frantic as Kuta and Legian.

The stretch of beach from Petitenget temple past KuDeTa to Double 6 is wide and sandy. It's a big wave surfing beach. For swimming you have to pay attention to the tides and swells. You can rent beach chairs and umbrellas all along the beach but especially in front of KuDeTa and at Double 6. Just north of Double 6, by the Anantara Hotel, there are a group of beach shacks which are good for cheap meals all day, and especially lively at sunset.

Since you're only there for a short time, you don't have much time to see much of the rest of Bali. For sightseeing, you could arrange for a van with a driver to take you to Ubud, which is about an hour's drive from Seminyak. This is the nature and culture center of Bali with rice paddies, temples, river valleys, handicraft shops and traditional performing arts.

If it's in your budget, I'd recommend The Colony hotel for convenience and ambiance. Some less expensive places in the area are the Sense Hotel, Dash Hotel, Swiss Bel Hotel Petitenget. Ibis, Neo, Fave are really cheap but a bit farther from the beach.

You don't want to stay on Sunset Road!
