Shimla, India; fly on Air Deccan or Jagson?

Looks like we'll be going directly from Delhi to Shimla, and can't quite make the night train.

Has anyone flown either of these airlines up there?

I love Jet Airways, but unfortunately, Simla isn't on their map.

I'm thinking of taking the train back to Delhi, actually Agra. Good idea? I keep reading that the toy train from Shimla to Kalka is very scenic, and we'll want to to go straight to Agra rather than fly to Delhi, then train, if at all possible.

Nope, Bob...my husband has finally decided to see what it is about India! And since we'll be on the east coast, it's only such a short jump from there to Delhi...NOT!

Would have been easier to go via Thailand from here, but since we'll be visiting the DDs it is only about $700 more to go. this is all last second of course...I'm madly scrambling figure the logistics, and then I need to sell a house quick to pay for it!!! The hotels have doubled since I was there 2 years ago.

Oh well, If I get him hooked on India, we'll watch the budget next time!

See you soon!

Air Deccan has a bad record for reliability, although I've heard they've been getting better in the past few months.

I think the train down from shimla is supposed to be great, but it is time-consuming. ..

is Jagson any better than Deccan? I hesitate to use them as they seem to fly very small aircraft (eight seaters?)and I am a very nervous flyer....
