Shenzhen Airport to Hong Kong
Planning a trip to China in May 2009. We will be ending the trip at Hong Kong. Need to fly from Guilin to Hong Kong. Seems like fares from Guilin to Shenzhen are 30% of the fares from Guilin to Hong Kong.
Is it advisable to take a flight to Shenzhen, and then travel to Hong Kong, or is there a catch somewhere ? Present schedules show a mid-day flight from Guilin, reaching Shenzhen by 1 pm. How does one go from Shenzhen airport to Hong Kong at that hour, and how much does it cost ?

Direct bus, 90RMB, every half an hour. Make sure you use this service, not other "direct" bus service. This one uses the much better and newer Shenzhen Bay border crossing and not the older Huanggang like other services:

Their booths are at SZX A04 in Terminal A, and B08 in Terminal B, in the respective arrival halls. Drop off location is at the Elements Mall in Kowloon above the Kowloon Airport Express/MTR station.

There is now a second coach service from SZX also using the Shenzhen Bay crossing:

Same price, same frequency. It has stops in Tuen Mun, and then Mongkok and Kowloon Tong MTR. Depends on where in Hong Kong you're going to, this service may be more convenient than going to the Elements Mall in West Kowloon.
