Shanghai - one free day ?what to do

Myself and 2 companions have booked a tour of China(first trip with organized tour!) and the last day in China is a free day in Shanghai. We are looking for suggestions for that one day.
We will have flown into Shanghai from Guilin. On arrival day in Shanghai, we will have done a guided visit to the Shanghai Museum Yuyuan Garden, the Former French Concession District and the Bund District.
Not having visited China before, and not knowing the language, we welcome any and all suggestions. Thanks!

You will do all of those sites on your arrival day? I can't imagine trying to cover all of that in one day, more like four.. On your free day, return to some of them for a more in depth visit. Walking around the former French Concession is what I like to do. Or take a boat ride on the river. Walk on The Bund at night.

Thank you, that is what I was thinking - and the visit to the Museum Garden does not include a visit to the actual Museum - I read someone's review that said the visit to the museum was their favourite thing to visit while in Shanghai. I am sure the tour day IS just a quick overview of these places and will give us a good idea what we want to return to the next day - haven't read a lot about the French Concession but have seen favourable reviews - just in the beginning stages of our trip reading/planning. I appreciate your input!

Allow 2.5-3 hours for the excellent Shanghai Museum. Very user friendly. I recommend "Life and Death in Shanghai" to understand the Communist takeover there.

I like the old buildings on the Bund. If you have an interest in architecture it is interesting to visit in daytime as you can enter the spectacular building lobbies.
