Message: I was wondering if there are any american style department stores in Kathmandu. I have family there and was wondering about her purchasing Xmas presents.

Message: I don't remember any, but that shouldn't prevent shopping. There are lots of small shops that sell great gift stuff, cheap!
Cashmere, wool sweaters, rugs, paintings, are all great things that can be purchased there.
