I will be travelling solo to Thailand (Koh Samui) in a month and can't wait. Since I'll be by myself, do you have any tips on how to keep your valuables (pasport, money, credit cards) safe while at the beach?

Even the most basic hotel or hostel should have a safe at the front desk, that is where I would leave passports, credit cards and airline tickets. Carry some cash, but there is no reason to carry your passport about with you.
Actually official the law in Thailand is that you 'are' supposed to carry your passport, though obviously this is a risk in itself, but you should always keep a photo-copy on you especially if you are heading for a 'night out' as there can be checks. Otherwise keep things in the safe. A good tip is to always have 2 ATM cards, keep one in hotel safe and one with you, if you currently only have 1 just ask your bank for a 2nd one, they are more than happy to provide a spare card when you tell them you are traveling. Another tip: Do 'not' pressume any similar foreign traveler you meet is a great guy / gal, watch out for peopole who try to latch onto you, as a single person if you want to 'link up' with people around where you stay a good tip is to stick with couples or families.
