Safety in Sri Lanka revisited

The previous message about safety in Sri Lanka is getting rather long. I was just wondering if anyone has visited the east (Arugam Bay, Trincomalee/Nilaveli) recently and can report back on the security situation. We are still planning to go there in August and would welcome any tips, experiences etc.
