Safety for Americans in Bangkok/Koh Samui

Jump to last reply

Hello all and thank you in advance for your advice. My girlfriend and I are planning a trip to Thailand from Decemeber 29 to January 9. Our intention was to spend four days in Bangkok and then go to the island of Koh Samui. Since researching the trip we have read about bombing in mid-August and seen some government warnings advising that some violence may be directed at expatriates or tourists. Of course we know to take the usual precautions when traveling abroad, but can anyone advise if this is a higher-than-usual risk to travel? Thanks again!
