I don't know what area you're staying in (might be helpful to repost with that info so others can help more), but we stayed in Nusa Dua, and almost every hotel has a special secluded beachside bale (traditional balinese room-on-stilts sort of thing) on which they offer private gourmet dinners.

If you have a private villa, the hotels can also arrange for not only private catered gourmet dinners, but also private cultural dances. And many hotels have very luxurious massage packages in paradise-like surroundings.

One activity I missed is a fire dance performance on the beach. There is one particular restaurant that is in a sort of half-cave open to the beach, and they offer nighttime dinner performances of a fire dance, which is very dramatic and features over 100 dancers. And fire, presumably. (This is a well-known place, so if you don't immediately see an ad for it, your hotel should know).

A friend who had lived in Bali for years recommended La Lucciola. Simple but very elegant decor (primarily open to the beach), fabulous food. Well worth a visit.

Good luck!

Agree with Andrea. We also stayed at Nusa Dua. Loved Bali and the beach side bale for dinner is a must!
Sherri

The name of the hotel with the fire dance and the cave restaurant is the Bali Cliff.

Bali is a very romantic place, as long as you avoid places like Kuta, which can quickly turn you off to Bali, unfortunately. At night, try floating in a pool face up and look at the stars in the sky. They are amazing. Do take in the dances at the temples or at the Ubud Palace which has a different wonderful dance every night. the cost is about $US 5. If you want authenticity, don't take in the dances at the hotels, try to see one in a village ceremony if there's any happening near you. Your hotel will know the schedule of nearby village. Usually the dances at the hotels are truncated versions...glamorous but touristy.

La Lucciola is probably the most famous restaurant in Bali, and deservedly so, but be sure to have your concierge make reservations in advance. Congratulations on your engagement!
