rhkkmk--greetings from india

india is fantastic...it is total chaos in delhi...thank god for our wonderful driver anoop....he takes such good care of us...

we have done all the major sites in delhi with a wonderful woman guide....she was tons of fun and gave us excellent information....

there is tension once again today in delhi...it centers around the tension between the government and merchants who have opened and built buildings illegally....the gov't just moves in and closes them up and demolishes the buildings....remember they are illegal!!

shops have been closed a bit but yesterday we did quite a bit of shopping thanks to hints from crain and jeane and patricia (boston harbor---got several chickan shirts at your place underground yesterday) and also purchased a new dining room carpet on a provisional basis assuming that we do not find something we like better on the ongoing trip....

leaving delhi for agra in bout an hour...

more later

karne and bob

Well, greetings from Changi Airport. On my way to Surabaya, but have a 3+ hour layover here (7 on way back, but that was intentional). Thank Singapore for free internet!!!

You'll have to tell us all about Agra. I'm hoping to see a bit of India next year, knock wood!

Hi Bob,
Your posts have been very helpful when I went to Bali and in my prep for December trip to Vietnam and Laos. I look forward to reading about your India adventures (where we hope to go next Christmas).

Bob,

I never received my complimentary ticket to India from you, but somehow I'll find it in my heart to forgive you

Thanks again for all your spot-on advice over the last few months...we leave on Saturday for BKK. So exciting! Happy travels to you and yours!

Best,
Bill

Another country despoiled. Will the madness never end? A few more days of Bob and they will abandon all pretensions of non-violence. Noone thinks the disruption is merely coincidental.

Hi, Bob and Karen:

Your message suggests much delight in your first Indian experience -- what great news! Having first-rate guides seems to be key -- you seem to have had resounding success in that area thus far. I look forward to hearing more.

Here's your Boston report: it's a beautiful, sunny day with temperatures in the mid 5o's F, most welcome after some dreary, rainy days. The Autumn light grows perceptibly weaker each day though and it's pitch dark before 5 pm. The biggest changes in the air, however, are political after our decisive election.

Enjoy the onward journey. May time seem to pass slowly so that you may savour it all.

MaryA-don't worry, I've E-mailed Bob about the election results. Although gloating is not generally a trait among Pandas, this was too sweet to pass up. Is there any chance we can do to Bob what was done to Charlie Chaplin? It's especially fun to poke at him when his internet access is limited.

Bob and Karen - Now that you have left the fairly modern city of Delhi, you can look forward some of the more interesting areas of the golden triangle. Enjoy every minute!

And don't worry, in spite of the election results, not much has changed, yet...

The incumbent senator from Cambridge couldn't even manage 70% of the vote by the way...

Bob and karen, Namaskar! Ap Kaise hai?

Glad you are loving India and enjoying the CHAOS of Delhi and much much more chaos, excitement and beauty to come! wElocme to my crazy Life living in India!

I would have loved to see you/meet you, but belive it or not, i am in now Bangkok, arrived today!

Ya see, i led my ten day Doctor tour of North India, golden triangle with Khaj, and Varansi, and then yesterday flew back to Delhi from Varanasi and bid goodbye to my group at the Intercontinental..

Well, i have a six day holiday between my tours, so i mmediately dropped my clients off at the Intercontinental Delhi and then went directly back to the airport for a flight to Bangkok..yes, crazy and quick, but i had some things to do in Bangkok and was also looking forward to my serviced apartment..

So Sawadeeka..I am at centrepooint Silom again..I fly back to Delhi on the 15tgh and pick up another tour on the 16th, so i gather we will miss in India!..But i may be back to Bkk around December 1, so hopefully can still meet..

Enjoy your trip, and if u have any questions in route, drop me a line. namaste!

india will earn no points for road and road work....in your wildest vision you could never conceive of this MESS!!

but some how it all "works"...

agra was interesting and the taj was fantastic and the baby taj even more so, as craig and jeane had told us...not many groups go to the baby---insist that you be taken there....traffic jam of over an hour to get there however....and for pat P we loved the other side view of taj over the river---thanks

jaipur seems to be totally different...

castle and king is taking great care of us and everything is as advertised....our driver, anoop, is just simply fantastic....without him the trip would be totally different i am sure....we are kidnapping him and bringing to america for indentured service....

jaipur sightseeing tomorrow and shopping and more shopping....

one carpet already on its way to usa...

cheers

B&K

Great another American carpetbagger. Just what our international reputation needs. At least you might stop complaining about the state of the roads in Massachusetts.

Bob, glad that you're having a great time in India. Any mosquitoes to worry about? How are you protecting yourself? Hearing news about dengue fever and chikungunya?

Thanks.
