Restaurant reservation at Amar Vilas in Agra and Lake Palace Hotel in Udaipur

Hello,
I will be visiting Agra and Rajasthan around mid-December. What is the best approach in order to get a reservation at the Esphahan restaurant at the Amar Vilas in Agra and Lake Palace hotel restaurant in Udaipur if you aren't a guest at their hotel? How difficult is it to get a reservation?
Contact information for the restaurants would be appreciated.

Thanks

Not sure about Lake Palace but you can contact Amarvilas through their e-mail address which you can find on the Oberoi website.

For Lake Palace, you must have a pre-booking for a buffet lunch. Your name will be on the jetty-minder's list and that will allow you to go over to the palace.

Hi,

I went for dinner at the Lake Palace 2 years ago at about the sametime as you are planning and what I did was:

1. E-mail them with your expected dates as soon as you can (e-mail: [email protected]), they were very good at replying to e-mails when I tried

2. E-mail/Call them closer the time and so that they can arrange to pick you up from the mainland by boat

Generally I found I could have got a booking even if I booked a couple of days in advance

I would recommend evening dinner at the main restaurant and go for the sampling menu if can (it was excellent)

Dknet and all,

Thanks for your reply. I would appreciate if anyone could share any pointers about the Esphahan restaurant in Amar Vilas.

Thanks

We enjoyed both the entertainment (sitarist and tabla drummer) at Esphahan and the kitchen tour afterwards - it was great to see how they made the flat bread for the thalis in the tandoor.

We enjoyed it..good Indian food and entertainment. We were there in August and staying at the hotel, so no problem with reservations.

One thing to remember is that Indians eat very late. You might try an early dinner if it seems full.

I am going to be visiting the Taj in Agra in a few weeks. We want to have lunch or dinner at the Oberoi Amarvilas, in the more casual restaurant. Can anyone tell me the approximate cost of lunch and dinner there? I e-mailed them but no one answered. Do I have to make a reservation? Thanks
