Remembering the March 11 tsunami disater: Now/Then photos

http://www.boston.com/bigpicture/201...es_before.html

This is a remarkable set of Now/Then photographs from the Tsunami-devstated area of Japan. (For all except the first and last, click on a photo to toggle between today and just after the March 11 disaster.)

Amazing photos Don! I had seen an article done like this about 6 months ago and should have posted it then. I was also reading the long thread here on Fodors about canceling you trip to Japan recently. What a difference a year makes.

We are planning a trip to Northern Tohoku in 2013.

Aloha!

At the same time that the devastation of last year's tragedy is so achingly saddening, on so many levels, it's also amazing to see how the Japanese people have reacted.

Aloha, ht! I'd hoped to go back later this month, but wo0n't be able to. I'm close to wrapping up some major life changes (sell old house, buy & renovate condo closer to Cambridge/Boston, semi-unexpected retirement), and now I need to resolve some carpal tunnel issues that have slowed things down (and contributed to my lack of participation here). Shooting for a November trip.
