Recently visited Rajasthan with a stay in Jaipur. This was a very beautiful area. I would recommend tours to the Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Jantar Mantar (Astrological Observatory), this place was fascinating, Amber Fort, Monkey Temple, Mughal Mausoleum, dining at a restaurant called "Indiana." The owner went to college at Purdue in West Lafayette Indiana. The food was delicious. Had entertainment while dining. Getting around Jaipur was made possible by VCare Tours and Travels. Very accommodating company. If you your travel plans call for a driver and the driving is crazy in India ask for Mr. Deepak Dhandh. He is the best!! We stayed at the Ramada Jaipur. Nice hotel. Only major drawback was the limited internet access time. You get 30 free minutes a day. I am not sure if one could have paid for more time I always tried to do what was needed within the 30 minute time frame. Food at Ramada was good. Breakfast buffet offers made to order omelets most of other items were Indian. We also made a trek to Agra to the Taj Mahal. This place is so majestic I don't know what to say!! Fatehpur Sikri is another must if you are traveling around. Our last stop was Delhi. There is so much to see and do one could easily spend a vacation in Delhi alone. I can't wait to return to India and hope to do so after first of the year.

We'll be in Jaipur in late November and will definitely give "Indiana" a try. We live in southern Indiana, home of Indiana University, and Purdue is IU's arch-rival! Thanks for the info!
Curious to know about souvenir shopping in Jaipur since it is a city with lots of colorful crafts.

go to gem palace and get some semi-precious jewelry and the traditional tie-and-dye fabrics for scarves etc....
