Quad Adventure in Siem Reap -- has anyone done the 8-hour tour?
We will be in Siem Reap in December and are thinking about taking one of the Quad Adventure tours in Siem Reap. There are tons of positive reviews on Trip Advisor.
My husband used to ride motorcycle and our granddaughter has a friend who owes a quad, so they are both fairly confident about the quad. But I, on the other hand, am not so.
What I want to know is whether anyone had done the 8-hour tour and how hard is it on your body. Can a 60 some year old (I am fairly fit) do it without too much trouble?

Bob has never moved fast enough to get a breeze in his face. It's better than AC. Don't listen to him.
I have not done the quad tour personally but know of several people who have (some of them have never been on one before) and they all loved it. The good news is if it isn't your cup of tea, I'm certain they will have a way to get you back to "camp" or your hotel where you can rest and wait for the others to return. Cambodians are nothing if not accommodating in that way.
Even on cycling tours there's a van following to take anyone off the road that isn't having a good time.

That is surely a concern... Orininally, we were looking at the 4-hour morning tour that starts at 7am to avoid some of the heat. But since we have a whole free day, hubby wants to up to 8 hours.

I've done similar rides but in Chiang Mai and other area of Thailand. Dusty, hot and when you wear the helmet it gets even hotter. I would stick to doing it early in the morning and only for a few hours only.

That was my initial intention to do the 7am to 11am tour, but hubby really wants the 8 hour. Maybe I will convince him to do the morning tour and tell him that if we feel like it we can do the one hour sunset tour that evening with napping in between.

I can veirfy Bobs penchant for open air motoring. He kindly took Carolyn and myself on a nighttime tour of Boston a few years ago - a highlight of our trip there.
Turning now to the question of quad biking. I am an experienced and keen motorcyclist but even I would think twice about 8 hours on a quad bike in Cambodia. For a novice, I would think 1, maybe two hours and even then make sure it is early in teh morning. If anything did go wrong it is not the place to be to get decent medical care so check how much is done off road and what protective equipment is provided. Helmets are the very least that you need, proper jackets/elbow protection etc. would also be essential IMHO.

Someone posted on TripAdvisor that he and his 25 year old girl friend went on the 8-hour Quad Adventure Tour, and the girl friend was exhausted after 4 hours. So the 4-hour morning tour is it for us!
Gpanda, I will check with the tour company about the possibility of Rick going on the 8 hour tour and I turn back at 4 hours.
Thanks for all your inputs.
