Prices in Siem Reap?

Hello Everyone. I'm traveling to Siem Reap in May and I am trying to get an idea of food and transport costs. What would a meal in a "basic" restaurant cost? I realize that transport costs depend on where I want to go. Maybe a good gauge would be, want do you think a taxi would cost from downtown to a hotel east of the river, Borei Angkor hotel? I've been to Bangkok several times so is Siem Reap more, less about the same as Bangkok? Thank you for your help.

Siem Reap is cheaper than Bangkok. A meal in a basic restaurant is c $2, less in a market. A beer 50cents. Can't really help with transport costs except that a tuk tuk to tour the temples costs circa $25 per day, double if you want an English speaking guide.

We had several meals at Moloppor Café (the restaurant on the right as you face the group of restaurants with the same name). Meals were fine and cheap. The café is on the east side of the river.

We have just been back from Siem Riep. I loved this small nice city along the river. Everthing here is quoted in USD and there are lots of western restaurant with competitive prices. We often ate at Venus Restaurant run by a Combodian man. The food is good and the price was acceptable from 5-7 usd/person/meal including draught beer.Hardly do I see any taxi in Siem Riep. Tuktuk with driver (speak good English) is popularly used by the locals and travelers. The price depends on your route and you can bargain.

There really are no taxis in Siem Reap. You either take a tuk tuk, or hire a car by the day. Tuktuks are basically is $2 for anyplace in town (either side of the river). You might end up paying a bit more $3-$5 because you are out on route 6. It's a pretty hotel but in a very congested, noisy, dusty part of town and too far to walk into the old section of town.
