Doubt I will get back to Nepal again. Only have one day before Bhutan and then four days in Kathmandu after Bhutan. Thinking of flying to Pokhara for one night so we could see it and do a day trip from there, flying back to Kath late next afternoon. Is this bad idea?..
Pokhara? During our few days?

Elainee, it's hard to know what to recommend. When I've been in Nepal, my experience was that domestic flight schedules were mere suggestions and it was not uncommon for flights to be delayed by hours or not fly at all some days. On the other hand, I've known people who managed a short hop to Pokhara and back without a problem.
Four days in the Kathmandu Valley is not a lot of time. I think we spent 8 days to see what we wanted to see. Personally, I'd opt to spend my time in Kathmandu.
Unless you have something special to see in Pokhara I would spend the time in Kathmandu and seeing the other sights in the valley.
I really, really want to see the mountains. I had wanted to get to thyangboche, but that was almost 20 years ago. Now I am that much older so I hope to get someplace just to see them. If the weather works we can do the Everest flight. Where near Kath can we get good view if not Pokhara? I guess I shouldn't believe Budda airline 4flights a day schedule to pokhara.
You will only get a good view in Pokhara if there are no clouds. I was there for four (?) nights and never saw the mountains. There are places nearer KTM that also have good views - check the guidebooks.
When we were in Katmandu, it was so clear we could see the mountains from the city!
There are several viewpoints outside of Kathamndu (like Nagarkot), but seeing the mountains from the viewpoints is iffy. Take the Everest flight. It's truly the best way to see the mountains. Get tickets for the first flight of the day. That way, even if flights are delayed (they usually are) you'll still get on. And if the flight can take off, you'll see the mountains - stunning!
