Please suggest great place for breakfast in Bangkok

My husband and I would like to try non-hotel breakfast in Bangkok. Either continental or American breakfast works for us, but we don’t find local breakfast appetizing.

Any special restaurant or café (excluding chain quick bite like Au Bon Pain or Daily France) that opens early and serve great breakfast in a lovely setting? Will appreciate your recommendations.

If you don't want a local breakfast, the best breakfasts are definitely in the hotels.

Bob mentioned a crepe place in his trip report which may work for you.

theres an au ban pan in discovery mall...

where are you staying?

I think a bakery chain called S&P serves breakfest, but I'll too check it out.

On Sukunvit 11 there is a German place that serves a decent American style breakfest for 100 baht..

ham, 2 eggs, corn flakes, OJ, coffee and a couple of more things for $2.50

Burger king serves breakfest.. I'm saying this cuz Mccdy's does not.

I personally haven't found any decent western breakfast places outside of the hotel ones. And the banana bread at the Four Seasons is beyond BLISS...worth a trip to just for that. They do the best breakfast I have had at any hotel I've stayed at in Bangkok.HAppy Travels!

Here are some other places on Sukhumvit that serve a fairly good breakfast.

Jools - Soi 4 Sukhumvit - The breakfast has everything most people may want and are large and generous (may not be able to finish it all). 140 baht with coffee & orange juice.

Old Dutch Restaurant - Sol 23 Sukhumvit One of the best all-day breakfasts in the city. It is situated on the corner at sol 23. A meal of orange juice, 3 eggs, ham, sausage, bacon, cheese, hash browns, toast, jam, butter and fresh
coffee (2 cups) will set you back 100 baht.

Regency Park Hotel - Soi 22 Sukhumvit - I know you said no hotels but this place is great. Omelet's made to your order, potatoes, baked beans, fried rice, and other hot dishes such as pork medallions in mushroom sauce, fish in dill sauce, chicken with basil. Plus pancakes, french toast, American style bacon, cold cereals, yoghurt, fruit, pastries, fresh bread for toast, and on and on. All you can eat for 140++ baht. Open from 6:30 AM until 11:00 AM every day.

We'll be staying at Conrad on Wireless road. Thank you for your contributions. We'll be there for one week, so it's nice to try all places you recommended.

Actually the hotel provides breakfasts, but we sort of want to try something new and go to different places. I hope the eggs, cereal, bread, and juice won't cost more than 10 bucks for both of us.

My hubby's coworker in Thailand suggested 'The Courtyard' in Tonson road near the British Embassy. You may want to try their breakfast or other meals too.

Have a nice day.

The Courtland is owned by the same people whom run the well known Bourbon St Restaurant on Sol 22 Sukhumvit (sleazy area of Washington Square) The food at the Bourbon which also serves breakfast is good (noted for their Louisiana cajun/creole dishes) and a favourite expat spot. I don't know anything about the courtyard. Check this site for more information

specially around lower suk their are many pubs that open up for breakfest and 100 baht is usuall the going rate for the big combo.. actuall finding a good hearty breakfest is not that hard most resterants at serviced apartments also have something on offer.

If ya want too spend around $12 for breakfest then the hotel buffets can take care of that.

bkk does not have much of a cafee society it's more like the States where people buy a bag of iiced coffee and snack on something sweat.

there are donkin donuts and Miser donuts everywhere.

Also thai's are not much of a tea drinking people, they tend too go for the JAVA.

I've had breakfast at the German restaurant on soi 11. A little bit greasy for my taste but PLENTY of food. Can't recall the price, but dh thought it was cheap.

I like the buffets at the Penn and the Oriental. Spending 90 minutes at a river side table, sipping coffee, eating slowly, and reading the morning paper... aaaaahhh.. it's pretty hard to beat!

I also like the buffet at the Intercontinental, right at the Chitlom skytrain station.
