phuket to langkawi

We are spending 5 days on Koh Phi Phi then want to go to Langkawi. Can anyone tell me the easiest way to get from krabi or Phuket to Langkawi.
Thank you,
M.K.

You used to be able to get on yachts at PP that went to Langkawi, I imagine that you still can do this. Alternatively take a bus from Krabi to Satun, then from Satun to the Tamalang Jetty for boats to Langkawi, there are about 4 departures a day, 2 in morning; 2 in afternoon.
Last I heard there aren't any flights from Phuket to Langkawi.

i would fly to K/L and then up to langkawi....doubt there is a direct flight and i would never do the over the road, especially at the moment with scattered unrest in the deep south...

Ads Texas has said, down to Satun in Trang Province and 1.5 hrs boat to Kuah on Langkawi, quite easy. If you check the map you will see how close Langkawi is to Satun.

rhkkmk,
If you look at where the violence has been, it seems that Satun is just as safe as Krabi. I would have no worries taking a bus from Krabi to Satun and then a ferry to Langkawi.

Even though Satun is a predominately Muslim province there’s no terrorism or unrest there. I was told some years ago that the Satun & Krabi Muslims (on the Andaman side of the southern peninsula) belong to a different branch of Islam than the Pattani, Narrathiwat & Yala Muslims.
