Phuket questions and help needed
Hi all, I am staying in jw mariott and I have some questions and hope the experts put here will be able to help
1) I have 3 kids, ranging from 2-7. Is it afar for them to join the sea kayak trip? How much is it for child and adult? Will there be hotel pickup?
2) I am thinking of driving on the island. Is there a reliable cat rental co? How much is it per day? Is it easy to find gas station in Phuket? Do they send and pick up the car from the hotel?
3) finally, is there any nearby attraction near jw mariott? Any seafood resturants near there at reasonable prices?

Have you done any research at all? I suggest you start by using the search function at the top right of the screen - "Search the Forums".
You can also get all the rental car information from google. There are several international companies represented in Phuket like Avis etc.

Another "Dressing Down" by the much revered Hanuman. If you dont like the question, why not just not post an answer rather than ridiculing the poster.
The JW Marriott is fairly isolated and it is a good idea to hire a car. We normally hire from a small travel agent at Kata beach at the cost of about 700 baht per day for a Suzuki Carribean, but if you would rather hire from a larger organisation, consider picking up a car at the airport. Driving on the Island is quite simple for a confident driver, particularly if you have had some experience on the left side of the road, but I am sure that some others will advise you against it. Most people that I have spoken to that have done it, would do it again. Gas Stations are plentiful.
All the major Kayaking companies will pick up from your hotel and prices will range from 2000 baht - 3500 baht depending on who you book with and where you book it. They will generally not charge for very young children and possibly half price for your older one. John Gray Tours are very popular here, particular the starlight trip, but with kids that age, daytime is probably better and I have used and quite like this mob...http://www.andamanseakayak.com/daytrip.htm Avoid booking any trips at the hotel as there will be a surcharge. Either book online or look for a smaller travel agent and dont be shy about comparing prices or asking for a discount.
Bob, aka rhkkmk, has stayed at the JW Marriott and has constantly sung its praises. He may be able to help with a restaraunt suggestion. I prefer being closer to one of the main beaches, not the outrageously busy Patong but Kata or Kamahla, but you may prefer the relative isolation, particularly with your own transport.

the hotel is quite issolated, but i have read about people going to the other side of the island to some nice restaurants...
for lunch on our way to khao lak we ate in the deli at the jw, phuket..

It is close to the Phuket Zoo. This is far from one of the worlds great Zoos, but the kids will enjoy the Monkey and Elephant shows and there are plenty of animal photo opportunities. You could combine this with lunch at PhongPhang for a great day out.
