Phuket cruise stop: Phang Nga Bay speedboat or Beach & Spa?

Jump to last reply

Hi….We've got a cruise stop from 8a to 6p at the end of March, and I'm torn between what to do. The ship offers a Phang Nga Bay speedboat shore excursion including James Bond Island, a water village stop with houses on stilts (think these are the sea gypsies) finishing with swimming at Khai Island. I thought this sounded great, until I started researching and read things like a lot of pollution, a lot of people, very touristy….so maybe this overrides the area's natural beauty.

So, idea No 2, is to find a beautiful beach with a hotel with a great spa and take advantage of the wonderful, reasonable Thai massages rather than the expensive ship spa offerings. Does anyone know of a lovely resort that would accept day visitors on their beach and spa? Or, is the speedboat ride to this renowned bay a better choice?

Several years ago, we stayed on Koh Lanta and took a boat trip to Phi Phi Island, which was gorgeous. Would we get a similar experience going to Phang Nga Bay?

Thanks for your help!
