I very much enjoyed your China photo album and blog - great pictures, great journal. (If I might offer a suggestion - it would be easier to read if it were in date order rather than reverse order, but thanks for posting!)

You're right, it would be better that way. But the problem is : if i reverse messages, then visitors will have to go all the way down the blog to see the new posting. Very few options available with this blog provider I am afraid!

Jeremie - I wondered if it might be something like that. Regardless, I enjoyed the report and pictures. My next trip is to China, and Yunnan is definitely high on my list. I know your original posting here was about Nepal, but I'd be interested in hearing a little about how you arranged the China trip. I didn't see specifics in your blog (unless I just missed them). How much did you arrange in advance vs just do on the fly? Did you get help from a specific agency/tour guides? Thanks in advance!

As always, we did not arrange anything in advance. Just had two guide books with us (one LP, and one devoted on cultural matters) as well as a phrase book (the latter begin essential, LP's is good). We read them a bit before and then improvisation. China is easy. Transport is widely available. People are friendly, no big scams in this part of the world, and no problems for women travelling alone. If you have specific questions, don't hesitate.

I'll probably have lots of questions (as those here who helped me plan my Thailand/Laos/Cambodia trip can attest). I did that trip on my own with my daughter, but I had things planned in advance. Not sure I could wing it like you did. The big problem is that we are strictly limited on time. We absolutely can't do anymore than 3 weeks - and I want to see as much as possible. So if we can't get a flight, it messes up our itinerary. I might try arranging hotels/flights in advance and some tour guides and winging the rest. Tell me about transfers from the airport and getting around in general. In Thailand, for example, lots of people speak English and it's easy to go outside the airport and tell them your hotel name and they'll take you. I don't have the sense that it's so easy in China. Beijing? Maybe? But what about someplace like Lijiang? And then how about arranging a guide/driver for the day? Did you need that? And if so, how did you arrange it once there? Thanks!

What I propose is that we move on to my message on China. Then all my responses could be useful for other travellers that want to go there (we're still on Nepal here!)
You can click on my name, then move to a simillar message than this one but on China, and ask me all questions you need. Cheers.

Jeremie, just found your travel blog. I have really enjoyed it and you have some beautiful photographs. I especially liked the first photo on your India entry. Have saved your blog for my husband to read..we head to Nepal and India just after Christmas.
Where do you head next?
