Pescription glasses in Bangkok
We will have one week in Bangkok in Oct. and I am curious about getting prescription glasses there. As Thailand seems fairly inexpensive does anyone know how much this would cost and how long it would take?
I wan ta good pair of glasses with bifocals. I just cant stand progressive lenses but I want a good quality lens, frame and anti-reflective coating. Any ideas?
Also any ideas about getting tailor made clothes for men as to the cost?
Thanks! Larry

Cheryl gets her glasses in Bangkok. She prefers Paris Miki which has a store in Siam Paragon. She opts for Hoya progressive lenses. Because she gets progressives, it takes a week for them to be made. Bifocals would take less time. She buys designer frames, and the total cost is about half of what it would be in the US.
There are many inexpensive places to have glasses made in Bangkok.

i have a pair around my neck right now here in italy and i am wearing a clear pair for the computer...
i get mine from the famous tong's husband, named chang. his shop is very close to khao san road, and has a name something like Santang Optical. He has some fancy frames but not the special ones that cheryl buys at the malls. i have been happy with many pairs i have bought over the last 5-6 years. he really stands behind his products too.
it takes about 2-4 days for the finished product. take a current prescription with you or he will gladly test your eyes. he has decent english.
i pay under $100 per pair and my wife pays about $200. for her progressives, but of course it depends on the price of the frames...
i will be home in about 2 weeks so contact me at [email protected] if you want his correct address.
