Your introduction to the miracle of Google.
You'll want to spend the whole day in the Georgetown area of Penang. Don't bother going to the beach. The website dogster has give you gives some good suggestions for Heritage walks.
While the website touts the famous Gurney drive hawker stalls, we found the hawker stalls right in Georgetown to be better.
Mostly, you'll want to walk in Georgetown.
If you only have one day, plan carefully, there is a lot to see and do in Georgetown. The Hawkwer center Kathie suggested is very good and more central to other things than Gurney drive. Get a guide book and choose what you want to see. If you like India food, there are many good places. Enjoy!
