I just booked back-to-back Pandaw cruises on the Ganges, Irrawaddy and Mekong starting January 2011. I am looking forward to comments from from cruisers that have experienced the new Ganges cruise.

Shanghai November Trip Report

Take a look here, including the last two comments on the Ganges:

I have traveled on the Irrawaddy and the Mekong rivers with Pandaw in 2005 and I look forward to the Ganges in March 2010. I will keep in touch.
Would love it if someone who went on the maiden cruises would post a trip report.
Mmmm, LA - I know somebody who went on one of the maiden cruises up the Ganges. I'll try and reach him and see if he has anything to say. He's still recovering his mental health, babbling something about biting the hand that fed him.
I believe he was booked on that same cruise next March, too AngelEight - but, suddenly, he cancelled. I don't know why. He did mention that they took his $1000 deposit and fled, cackling - so he might be prepared to talk a little more now. He's incommunicado at the moment, in a psychiatric facility in Thailand, I'm not sure where.
He's a horrible man, though - I'd imagine that, whatever happened, it was all his own fault. He has banned HIMSELF from all future Pandaw cruises - into infinity - thereby saving the owner from having to do it.
All this is as much a mystery to me as to you.
Dogster, as dedicate lurker on all your threads, I was thrilled to hear your mystery man might be prepared to talk a little more after a R&R in Thailand.
AngelEight am am looking forward to your post after the March cruise.
There is nothing like a good mystery.
Dog, I intuit that this fellow's mental health has returned thanks to the kindness of strangers taking him in for the holidays. I'm hoping he was jotting down his recollections whilst in that psychiatric facility. A great place to collect ones thoughts and gain perspective. I do hope you can reach him.
I believe he is well on the road to recovery - unfortunately he checked himself out early and flew to Kathmandu, thereby setting the healing process back some weeks. I think he is somewhere in Thamel - but there is a bandh today and no one can contact him.
Apparently he has total recall - well, right up until some kind of confusion in Tamil Nadu. He was rambling about bad charas, pesticide and cough medicine. I still don't know what he meant.
