Pakistan Forum/ Unfriendly

This is the first time I am posting and I came across some posts that go against the Guidelines of the forum and were still accepted? There are wide variety of members to voice their opinions , however, at the same time the forum should be friendly and helpful to all members planning their upcoming travels to Pakistan.

I have seen promotion, personal attacking Pakistani tourism industry posts on the Pakistan Forum. Is Fodor's following the guidelines provided?

I tried to contact at [email protected] but got no reply. I tried to report the posts but couldn't do because the link isn't working.

Welcome to Fodors fjawad. If you will notice, threads you mention and have posted to are quite old. One is from 2011. Per the question you posted on one, no - advertising is not allowed. However people are allowed to recommend companies and services (as long as they are not connected to that company)

There are moderators who delete advertising posts. Unfortunately, it isn't possible to contact them right now since the link is 'broken'.

However, if you see a very old thread that might have advertising, and post a reply to it it will rise to the top. So it might be better to leave those threads alone and let them sink into oblivion. In the not too distant future the format/platform for the forums is changing so teases problems will eventually go away.

janisj thanks for the reply ! Is there a way to contact one of the moderators?

http://www.fodors.com/community/asia...ble-agency.cfm - This post goes against the guidelines yet no action has been taken to remove it. I am sorry but I don't know why Fodors allows someone to write such a negative post on pakistan tourism industry. I am very disappointed. There is no way to verify if the post is genuine. Anyone can make up a good/bad report. Please have a look at the post and let me know why the post should be still on the forum. How come they can use personal names? Perhaps, It would be unfair to the pakistani company mentioned in the post because we don't know the other side of the story and it would do more harm to them in the future. If the company can be contacted to know the other side of the story, that would be great. All I want is the forum should be positive at all times. I hope an action is taken.

"All I want is the forum should be positive at all times." fjawad, requiring that Fodors only post positive reviews would defeat the purpose of a site like this. What are wanted are actual reviews - positive or negative. If an agency gets a negative review they are welcome to submit a rebuttal.

Please see my responses to your other threads here and on the Help board. What you want fodors to do is really not 'cricket'. People are allowed to post their opinions, good and/or bad.

Not quite sure why all these threads have upset you so much? You have posted essentially the same thing several times over the past 2+ months.

fjawad, I get your point about naming a specific person. That is not good.

I noticed that nobody responded to that thread, including you.

We get posts like that on various fodors forums, accusatory and unfair. It is pretty obvious to most of us.

But when people (like me) see a thread thread like that they click on the poster's name to see their posting history. We check to see if they have made useful, rational, fair, knowledgeable comments on other threads.

People swoop in here from the internet and make derogatory comments and then go off to another website to do the same thing. They are UPSET and want the world to know.

Those people get ignored, like this one was.

Hello and thanks for your concern.

However I must disagree with you. The post seemed to be a truthful recounting of his experience and doesn't indict the entire Pakistani tourism industry. It's just this particular company.

You can and do find TR's that warn of unscrupulous companies. It does happen and it's a service to all of us. Otherwise it's censure and that's not proper really.

You can't have only positive reports because you don't always have positive experiences.

As for the mods around here the only things they seem to remove are ads. It's not what it used to be.
