Overnight layover in Delhi

I have an overnight layover in Delhi on my way from the States to Nepal next May. Are there any dayrooms at the Delhi airport? I couldn't find any information on the Delhi airport website, but wondered if they just weren't advertised. Alternatively, can anyone recommend any basic airport hotels close by? Thanks.

Quite a few hotels have day room facitilies but they do not advertise it. Most of the time they give special day room rates only to travel agents. You can try Radisson or Airport Hotel . Both are very close to the airport.

Thanks for the help. Is the hotel just called Airport Hotel? Actually, I will need a room overnight, but by dayroom I meant a room at the airport so that I won't have to deal with getting a visa. But it looks like no such luck.

Delhi international airport is undergoing a huge renovation and the last time I was there (several months ago), the day rooms were closed. It may be a bit of hit or miss to see if they will be open during your trip. But in any event, the airport has extremely limited facilities, there are virtually no restaurants in the transit area (a place to get tea and buns is about it). I would not recco spending a night at that airport unless renovations are complete.

There is no hotel within the airport. I agree that the Radisson is probably the closest and a good choice. You might contact them to see what kind of rate they could offer. Other hotels would in the area would be the , the really lovely but expensive Trident (http://www.oberoihotels.com/ or http://www.tridenthotels.com/home/index.asp), the Crowne Plaza Gurgaon (http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/) or the Park Hotel in Gurgaon (http://www.theparkhotels.com. The Grand Hotel is pretty nice (was originally a Hyatt) see http://www.thegrandnewdelhi.com (There is also a Grand Hotel Intercontinental in Connaught Circus in downtown New Delhi, so don't confuse the two.) The Uppals Orchid is quite nice as well, but rooms can be uneven IMO, for that price I think I would go with the Trident, but see http://www.uppalsorchidhotel.com/

You can get a transit visa for India which is good for 3 days and is for the purpose of transiting through India as you are doing, see https://indiavisa.travisaoutsourcing.com/guidelines. Assuming you are a US citizen, the cost is US$53 which is a little bit cheaper than the standard tourist visa.

Uppal's Orchid, last I knew, was the very closest hotel to the airport (about 3km). I stayed there once for an overnight and breakfast and liked it a lot. They provided a car to pick me up and take me back to the airport.

Make sure you have your Visa (whatever kind you get) BEFORE you get to India. They do not do on the spot visas at the airport, even for transit.

The Airport Hotel (yes that is the name of the hotel) is close to Uppal's Orchid and very reasonably priced. I put up my foreign guests there and so far no one has complained.
