Opinion on Dunhuang, China

Hi - I am interested in visiting Dunhuang, China as part of my vacation in China. I am planning to see it before or after Xian. Has anyone been? Is it worth seeing? I am not sure if I should try to fit it in - I booked two nights at Silk Road Dunhuang Hotel. Any opinions greatly appreciated!
