One month in Java and Bali
For anyone who may be interested we have just started to post lots of photos of our time in Java on our blog. Bromo, Borodur, Ijen and a piece on the wonderful food are there more to follow (when we get around to it!)

Enjoyed your blog about one of my favorite destinations. I'm sorry you had such a bad experience with a travel agency. We all know that can happen anywhere. But your guy, Albert should get an award for being so bad!

I really love your blog -- the photos and writing are terrific! I love the photos of Borobudur and am very impressed with your fortitude (both of you!) in going into the Ijen crater and visiting Mt Bromo. And, the camera museum is a hoot! The story about your guide, Albert, does make great reading, even though it was such an unpleasant experience. Bad travel experiences usually do make great stories after the fact! And, I'm looking forward to your reports on Bali.
Sadly, after planning a 2016 trip to Indonesia, I've decided to postpone it till I have more time to travel -- but will definitely get there someday. Your writing about Java does inspire me to linger a little around the countryside as well.

I have finally had a few moments to look at your stunning photos, and can only thank you, crellston, for such wonderful insights into your experiences! I finally "get" why so many people choose to arise at no-way-not-even-thinking-about-it-o'clock a.m. to see the sunrise at Ijen crater -- oooh! Of course, now that I've seen it through your eyes, maybe I can sleep in? ;-)

What amazing pictures! I'm hoping to get there one day, but my husband's bad knee would make it difficult to do any sort of climbing. I can still read about this area of the world and dream. Thanks for sharing.

Glad you all like the photos - difficult to take bad photos in such amazing places!
As for Albert, well, I think Kathie is right, he should get an award for being so bad. Towards the end it got quite amusing. I have never known a guide to know or say so little, sleep so much, or be so disorganised. But we will always remember him....
