Northern India - 16 Day Itinerary - Suggestions?

We have traveled in Asia many times; this is our first trip to India. We are not fans of long car rides so opting for several internal flights. In most cities, we will have 2 nights --just hoping this is the right amount of time in the different cities and the right mix of India experiences. We have chosen Udapiur for an extra day to enjoy hotel/spa. We leave November 2010.
Day 1 - Arrive Delhi late in evening
Day 2 - Delhi
Day 3 - Early AM flight to Jaipur then 3 hr. drive to Pushkar for Camel Fair/Pushkar
Day 4 - Pushkar
Day 5 - 3 hr drive to Jaipur/Jaipur
Day 6 - Jaipur
Day 7 - AM - Jaipur - afternoon flight to Udaipur - thought we would splurge on hotel here - Oberoi - Udavilas - enjoy spa one day
Day 8 and 9 - Udaipur
Day 10 - AM flight to Varanasi
Day 11- Varanasi
Day 12 - AM Varanasi - Noon flight to Khajuraho
Day 13 - AM Khajuraho - then 4 hr drive to Jhansi - stop in Orcha - train to Agra - evening arrival Agra
Day 14 - Agra
Day 15 - Drive to Delhi via Fatehpur Sikri - 5 hrs.
Day 16 - Delhi - evening flight home
Thanks in advance for suggestions.

Less is more. Forget Pushkar unless you're going to the camel fair. Have not been to Pushkar, but the camel fair takes place only once a year. Lots to see in Jaipur, Udaipur. Do your spa trip at home and use the time to see Udaipur. Jhansi is just a transit point. Driving to Agra from Jhansi via Fatehpur Sikri is too long. Plan to drive there from Jaipur on your way to Agra. I'd try to make the distances smaller between each place. You seem to be all over the map.

Good luck! India is a fabulous country!

Thanks for inupt Indian Pearl. The only reason we are going to Pushkar is for the Fair. From what we've read, the camel trading and other animal activities take place in the beginning of the fair vs. the religous aspect which takes place at end of fair. If anyone has been to Pushkar Fair, would appreciate views on this destination. I agree, we seem to be all over the map, but after researching air schedules, this seemed to make the most sense. We are going to Fatehpur Sikri after Agra on way to Delhi.

Pushkar Fair is being held from 13 to 21 November 2010. It is true that the cattle is traded on the first 2 to 3 days, when thousands of camels, horses, goats, buffaloes, fighting cockerels etc. exchange hands. The best time to arrive here is in this time. I have seen some best names make the mistake of recommending the religious aspect, when it is total chaos at Pushkar.
I guess the best time to arrive in Pushkar is by forenoon, partake of lunch & proceed to the fair grounds to take stock of the goings-on. The cattle is purchased through hard bargain & haggling, accopanied by the banter & rustic humour!
It is amazing how many varietes of camel & horses are being traded, to what looks like same breeds to the non initiated!
You will also see the village acrobat, magician, the singer of epics on the fair ground.
Just one night is recommended, for it is no point in repeating an activity. If you wish to see the religeous aspect, the HRH does it well in Udaipur, on the full moon.
Happy travels!

Just back from India and Udaivillas was an excellent last stop for us. It is worth the splurge! Very beautiful and the service is superb. Didn't have a spa treatment, but still felt pampered. Great choice.
