Night cruise to Kyushu from Kansai (Osaka and Kobe)

I saw this ferry service advertisement and thought I'd share it.
It could make for an interesting mix of transport options.
While on Yakushima last May we talked to a Japanese tourist who said she'd come from Kobe to Kagoshima on a ferry and I think this must be the service she meant.
One caveat is that weather could make or break this option.
One could land in Kansai and for a little over $100, ferry to Kyushu and then pick up either a North Kyushu or All Kyushu rail pass.
Northern Kyushu
Area 3-day pass ¥7,000
5-day pass ¥9,000
All Kyushu
Area 3-day pass ¥14,000
5-day pass ¥17,000
