Uzbekistan: A Lesson in Silk Road Hospitality

I do hope, since you are going to Borneo that you will do more than just the beach. Stay in the rainforest and see orangutans in Sabah or do a longhouse visit in Sarawak.
In Sabah, there are two Shangri-Las near Kota Kinabalu that are worth considering. In Sarawak, the Damai area (outside of Kuching) has nice beaches. Ther are several Holiday Inns in Damai.
December is the rainy season for this part of Malaysia. It probably won't rain all day, but when it rains it pours.
