New Thailand Visa Rules Effective Aug/29/2014

For those that can enter Thailand under a 30-day visa exemption they can now apply for a one time extra 30 days at a cost of 1900 baht. If for some reason you are disallowed this extension you will get a 7 day extension only.

There seems to be no change in the 60 day visa which can be extended for another 30 days.

Does this mean that after 30 days you could exit to visit another country and return getting 30 days and then extending for another 30 or after 60 days exit and return for another 30. Who knows at this point.

Reported in the Bangkok Post http://www.bangkokpost.com/business/...extended-visas

Would be nice to see an "official" announcement of the new visa requirements from a government source.

It is doubtful that one will be able to bag 90 days stay by making a border run plus one extention. All the changes have been made during the examination of those living in Thailand illegally, making visa runs.

One stipulation that the general has made is that immigration officers must use "discretion" in granting visas and/or extensions. The scenario that you describe might not pass scrutiny.
