New Hanoi Hotel opening
Anyone visiting Hanoi next year may like to know of a new 5* hotel opening in the city http://www.apricothotels.com . I think it is scheduled for March opening. Walked past a couple of days ago and it looks very nice. Great location overlooking Hoan Kiem Lake, yards from the lake and a 2 min walk into the Old Quarter.

You are very welcome.
Bob, I think you mentioned Hotels in Da Nang recently? We are off there tomorrow for a few days on our way south. Will, have a look around and report back. Apparently there is a lot of new hotel development there.

Bob. We took a ride along China Beach today to the Hyatt.
As far as location is concerned it is a long way from the city, I would guess about 5 miles. The Hyatt is almost at the far end of the beach right by the Marble Mountains ( est. 15 walk) The strip along China beach is a hive of development with new or partly built hotels virtually all the way, not pretty but the beach itself is pretty good wide with fine golden sand.
As for the hotel itself, it is understated and looked very nice. We had a wander around the grounds down to the beach. A main pool with a few smaller pools connected by canals with a cafe restaurant in the middle. Public areas very open and with a minimalist feel.
We asked to see one of the rooms, first floor overlooking the pools and beach. Not overlarge but very well designed with large FS TV, seating area and a fantastic bathroom. Sort of in a glass cube within the room with oval bathtub walk in shower. The bathrooms have glass walls for views of the beach so I would go for first or second floor for privacy.
Another option right on the beach and closer to town is the Pullman which looked really nice May be worth worth investigating. We are booked into the Pullman in Saigon in a few weeks so will report back from there.
Hope this helps. I took a few photos of the Hyatt so will try and email these to you when we get some decent wifi.

We will be in Hanoi at the end of April. They ( Apricot Hotel) are offering a very discounted opening special rate. Does anyone know if it will actually be open by then? I was able to make an online reservation.
