For soon to be travellers or those on the road, you can be among the first to own/use the next edition (11th) of Lonely Planet Myanmar which is due for release December 1st.

If you go to the Lonely Planet Shop, you can download PDF's of individual chapters or the whole book. Individual chapters cost $4.95 US. The entire book $17.49 which is a much better deal. Tick off all chapters for download and when you get to the checkout page, each chapter will show a cost of $1.59 for a total of $17.49. Downloads are available now.

There is lots of new info, the maps are much, much better and more comprehensive and the new layout is a big improvement.

Fodors does not publish a guidebook to Myanmar. LP is the only english language guidebook.

It was supposed to be available Dec 1st. Now Amazon Canada tells me Dec 17th with delivery Dec 27th. I am leaving the evening of Dec 24th so too late...but I have downloaded the complete book to my hard drive.

That's great. There were rumors earlier than it would be available in Bangkok as of Dec 1. I haven't looked for it, so can't tell you if it is true. In any case, too late for me.

The new 11th Edition is now available locally in Vancouver, BC at Book Warehouse.

I checked amazon.com and it is still not in stock, but it is in stock at the Canadian site, amazon.ca for immediate delivery.

I am a little embarrassed to ask this question... but I am I am a little tech challenged. (used to work full time and had tech people to ask my inane questions. now i have to figure out on my own. ) I have a new (in the box ) Nook and an Ipad. Can the LP guide be downloaded onto either one? Sorry - I am just learning..... I went to the LP website - I am guessing I could download this to my computer- but not bringing that on vacation.
