NEED HELP!! SARS and travel advise

A Center for Disease Ctrl in the USA advisory says not to go to Singapore. The WHO does not have Singapore on its list of countries one should avoid travelling too. So its confusing to get a true idea of what the situtaion is.
I was to travel to Singapore on 1-7th May 2003, but I am thinking of cancelling my trip and just going to japan instead. Can anyone who has been there in the last month or so give me a true conception of how safe it is, since there have been more cases reported as of 10th April 2003.
thanks
Okay so the WHO does not have it on it's list but the CDC does, and I am assuming you live in the U.S.A, to me that warning alone from the should make you rethink.

The BIG problem is not just the place, it's the airlines that connect to all of asia with the virus on board. Plan accordingly. None, at present, are exempt, especially connecting out of Hong Kong. Planned to got to China on 4/13.....cancelled>

The Chinese gov't has just announced that checkpoints are now being set up at all airports and anyone who looks like they are ill with SARS will be placed in Hospital for observation. THIS INCLUDES ALL FOREIGNERS. Hong Kong is working with all the major airlines to take the body temperatures of people boarding flights out of the city. If you are suspect, you will be quarantined. Indonesia and the Phillipines have also been placed on the List of SARS-infected Countries.

I am an American expat living in Singapore. This is our take on it. While we are exercising caution in where we go and are avoiding large crowds, we are not hiding under the bed. Our kids have gone back to school and we are trying to get back to normal life. While public areas are quiet, this is NOT a city under siege. We are fortunate that the Singapore govt was quick and firm in implementing strong measures to halt the spread of the disease. We are also lucky in that there have no cases of SARS in the very large expat community here.
You can can also get here without having to transit in an Asian airport. Unless they have been canceled due to low business, Singapore Airlines has direct flights from Frankfort.

It's a difficult decision that each traveler has to make for him or herself. but I can tell you that there are legions of taxi drivers, restaurants and hotels here that want and badly need your business.
