Two of us are traveling to India in late October. We need a hotel in Mumbai for our first 3 nights. We are not "princesses," but many of the less than 5 star hotels seem to have cleanliness issues, drug-dealer-outside issues, etc. Can anyone recommend a hotel in the $100-250 range, preferably located in the Colaba - Gateway area? Thanks!

Take a look at Hotel Apollo (www.hotelapollo.co.in ), 3 star, at Colaba. The place have been freshly renovated. I have not stayed here but am told,it is quite good.
I've stayed there lots, vp. My favorite hotel in Mumbai. Perect location. Very soon a reminiscence of that very place will appear in these hallowed pages. As for the 'drug-dealer-outside issues' - well, every hotel in Colaba has those.
Do not stay at Gordon House, no matter what anybody says.
Is there a pharmacy that sells cough syrup in the neighborhood? Awaiting "very soon"...
Marija are you in Mumbai now? Do you have that horrible cough?
Dogster, isn't it "very soon" yet?!
lol Marija - sooner than you think. Stay closely tuned.
