Marriott buying SPG

Just learned that Marriott will acquire Starwood Preferred Guest. Not clear how they would handle the points moving from SPG to Marriott. Expected to happen next year.

I would love to be able to use Marriott points to stay at Sheraton Grand Sukhumvit in Bangkok!

I believe the Westin Sukhumvit is a better value for your use of SPG points. We love that hotel. The Sheraton is across the street but cost a lot more points.
I am hoping that it won't simply be a one to one transfer as SPG points are so much more valuable than Marriott points.

Hopefully Marriott will adopt SPG's version of cash and points instead of the Marriott version which is cash or points.
