Maldives -- rain starting Sunday??

We have tracking Male forecasts on several websites for the last week. All of them say everything is fine until Sunday when all hell breaks loose. Rain and thunderstorms almost non-stop through Wed. Being that we are in the "dry" season, this is most unusual for January, but being an El Nino year, all bets are off. I was concerned about Tropical Cyclone Corentin which is just forming south of the Maldives, but is expected to head further south in the opposite direction.

Too bad, since we have booked a couple of nights at an expensive resort Sun-Tue, and it would be really awful to have to deal with clouds and rain for the entire stay since we're only going there for 2-1/2 days, especially for the amount of money we are spending on the trip. Was wondering if there was something else happening which was creating this anomalous forecast.
