Malaysia travel route help!

Hi

We're 5 adults planning a trip to Malaysia from 10th April to 18th April.

I know its not a lot of time but we would like to make the most of our trip and experience as many places as possible.

We arrive and depart from KL and would like your recommendation on what destinations within Malaysia can be experienced. We would like to experience some adventure activities as well if possible. Appreciate your advice on the best travel route option.

I was thinking a day trip to Malacca from KL (or should we skip?)

Want to visit Taman Negara National Park (have heard very good things about the canopy walk and night safari)

Can we do Penang (esp. Georgetown) and how far is Cameron Highlands from Penang? Is it worth visiting?

What is the best way to get to Perhentian Islands/ Kota Bharu? Are any of these along the way or can they be done as a day trip from Penang? Is it worth visiting or can we skip this?

Please let me know what the best travel route is.

We are looking staying at KL for a day or so in total depending on our flight arrival/departure times.

Thanks,

Making the most out of your experience is in direct conflict with seeing as many places as possible. Getting the most out of your experience would mean choosing two places and exploring them more in depth.

Your ideas are all over the map - literally. Get yourself a good guidebook and study a map and choose what is most important to you. Remember that you will use up much of a day each time you change locations. Count nights in a location - four nights would give you three days to explore.

What exactly do you mean by "experience some adventure activities"?

Have you done any reading about the locations you ask us about? Most of those you ask "is it worth it" are places I've gone and enjoyed. I suspect if you do some investigating yourself, you'll have a better idea regarding which are those you'd enjoy. As Cathy says, you're all over the map and with so little time, you'd best get reading.

Everywhere you suggest is worth seeing. None of them are worth seeing in a rush. This is especially true of the Perhentians, which are ideal for chilling out and snorkeling, and not much else. (They are also "bring your own booze".) No you cannot do them as a day trip.

Cameron Highlands is not visiting at the moment. Recently Cameron is strike by serious flash flood. I advice you not going to Cameron. But Penang is the best you must visit!
