Malaysia airlines
From looking at the Malaysia airline web page, I gathered that they have only upgraded their B777 which is used from London to Sydney. ( I guess the competition from BA and virgin has forced them to) In Feb 2006, we plan to fly business class from LAX to KL. Our reservation show that the plane from LAX to KL is on a 747-400. Does anyone know if MA has upgraded their 747s? if not can anyone recommend another asian airline where the plane used from LAX to asia has a flat bed in business class. Thanks.

Hi,
Being an aviation fan, I got an email recently from Malysia Airlines that they know fly the A340-600 from New York to KL Non-Stop. From LAX, they still fly 747-400s.
The best choice for lay-flat beds to Southeast Asia would be Singapore Airlines. They fly 777-300's from LAX and San Francisco. If you want a cheaper option, Thai now flies A340-500 jets between California and Asia via a stopover in Bangkok.

Hm, that's news to me. MH doesn't have any 346 in their fleet, nor can I find any info that they've ordered that plane. The 346 also cannot make JFK-KUL non-stop. Only the 345 have the range.
I cannot find any news release from MH about the 346 either, and its online timetable show one-stop (via ARN) 744 three times a week right now for JFK, switching to 772 later.

My wife and I are flying MAS first class from LAX-KUL on Oct 29. MAS told me the updated "flat beds" will NOT be available till Jan 06 maybe later. So I guess we shall have only 170 degree recline. Since we are on FF tickets, I think I should be able to handle 10 degrees of vertical! Happy travels!

I flew malaysia's old first class last year and it was absolutely fabolous. I can't imagine getting a better sleep on the new configurations. Food and service was superb. As close to a perfect flight as I have ever had.
