MALAYSIA - hot spots
pursuing the search, based on the useful info I have come up with the following list.
Can anyone comment, recommend best value for money car rental companies and nice hotels as well as time required for connecting between the various locations by car?
Penang (2 days)
Cameron Highlands (2 days)
Taman Negara (2 days)
Melaka (2 days)
KL (2.5 days)
how about Kota Bharu? is it a must? Better than Penang?
Thks,

For KL, I would recommend Capitol Hotel. It is situated in the heart of the city making it very convenient as everything is within walking distance. It is of 3 star standard and facilites but clean adn modern, very comfortable
indeed. I think it is about USD 40 per night.
For Penang, you should try out Lonepine. It is a btq style setup. It is actually an old mansion which they renovated. They have a 2 night special for RM380 including breakfast.
Forget about Kota Bahru. Penang has excellent hawker food.

There is not much in Melaka so a day trip is sufficient. You could use an extra day in KL or Penang. You can make Melaka a day trip as it is only 1.5 hrs drive from KL. Penang is about 4.5 hours, so is Taman Negara. The roads are pretty winding. Cameron Highlands has similar winding roads but uphill. You could be looking at 2.5 hours. If you are starting from KL, do your Melaka day trip, then from KL go to Penang, then Cameron, then Taman Negara.
