Yes I would definetly do it one way for the experience. We caught a cab to maglev station (leaving Shanghai) and took all our luggage aboard, the train shows the speed it is travelling at and it got up to 436 kilometres an hour, amazing to look out the window and see the traffic etc.

I agree with Mole - it's an experience. The maglev terminus is Longyang Station - I would take a cab there rather than the metro system. I'm not sure what the current fare is but 18 months ago it was Y40 (about US$5) if you're holding a valid airline ticket. The 32 km trip takes less than 8 minutes.

I had taken the MagLev the last couple times I was in Shanghai, just to sample and enjoy the techonology in itself - and at 40 yuan, it's quite reasonable. The ride did not feel bumpy to me - less bumpy than a Boeing 747 taking off or landing. I took some photos on the train at 431 km/hr and nothing blurred.
