Luang Prabang Guesthouses

Can anybody suggest a clean, comfortable guesthouse in Luang Prabang? Budget is up to $20 per night for a double? Is that reasonable? Thanks a lot!

Hi,

I paid about $15 for a lovely room and en suite but it was 4 years ago. Can't remember the name but it was on the street that runs by the riverand there were some rooms with a small balcony.

It wasn't on the net then and probably isn't now either.

Your best bet for accommo in that range is just to pitch up and find somewhere you like.

Cheers.

Good luck. It's increasingly difficult to find reasonably priced accommodations in LP. I don't want to discourage you from going, but what was true 4 years ago is no longer true. The lovely place I stayed 6 years ago has more than tripled their prices.

Check this website: http://tinyurl.com/977rka
There seem to be a number of decent-looking places in the $10-20 range, though I've no experience with any of them.
The Pathoumphone Guesthouse overlooks the river, with a few balcony rooms and is "under $10." Could it be Afterall's place?

I found a clean comfortable room with basic ensuite round the corner from the Joma Bakery last July- can't remember the name. It was 50,000 kip with fan or $10US with airconditioning.

By basic ensuite I mean that the toilet paper gets wet when you have a shower!!!

www.hostelbookers.com

We used both extesively on our RTW trip and both were very good for cheap accomodation (NB there may be price differentilas for the same hostel on each site!)
