Lopburi - train station luggage storage?

Does anyone know if the train station at Lopburi has luggage storage? We would like to spend 1/2 day there on the way to Chiang Mai, but will need to store our suitcases.

Quite sure that they don't have a left luggage service in Lopburi. As an alternative you can send your luggage by rail freight and pick it up in Chiang Mai. Just arrive at the Bangkok station a little early to do this and when you arrive in Chiang Mai it should be waiting for you. I believe the charges for a piece of luggage not weighing more than 20kg is 120 Baht.

Is this safe to do and reliable? I'd hate to lose my luggage. We only take carry on bags - even when flying internationally.

I've sent a lot of freight by train in Thailand and so far I've not had anything stolen or went missing, knock on wood!

Just don't have anything valuable in your luggage and I think it's quite safe.

DOH! For some reason, it just struck me - Lopburi is not on the northern line, it's on the northeastern line. Ergo, it's not a stop on the way to/from Chiang Mai.

If you want to stop at an ancient city between Chiang Mai and Bangkok, try Sukhothai (Phitsanulok), but that's definitely worth more than half a day.

Michael,

There are quite a few train for the Bangkok - Chiang Mai route that stop by Lob Buri. Check out the timetable below.

dgunbug,

There's also a "station to door" service that you might be interested in. Just drop it off and they will send it to your hotel in Chiang Mai.

I've included a link for this service so you might want to print it out and once you're in Bangkok ask the concierge at your hotel to call the number listed.

thanks for the info. We will likely look for a hotel near the train station where we will ask them to hold our luggage, or in the alternative, take a bus as I believe there is luggage storage there.
