Lijiang or Shuhe for accomodations

Hi,
I'll be exploring Lijiang & Dali area for 5-6 days in mid September. I'd appreciate suggestions about staying in Lijiang or Shuhe. It looks like there are many good hostel options in both Lijiang and Shuhe.

I'm travelling solo, so would like to be able to walk safely home after dinner/evening stroll. But I don't want to be in the middle of a loud, tourist zone all night either.

After Dali, I need to get to Kunmming to fly to Guilin/Yangshuo.

Thanks!

Both places would be safe. I would prefer Shuhe. More quiet, more charm. LiJiang gets super busy and loud, especially in the evening. You can always go to the LiJiang old town for a walk. The LiJiang old town is bigger and has more shop buts but most sells the same things while the shops in Shuhe are more interesting.

Thanks.
Do you have a hostel/hotel suggestion for Shuhe?

Is it possible to walk from Lijiang to Shuhe?

Is it possible to join groups for day trips/exploring from Shuhe, or would it be advisable to stay in Lijiang to meet other travelers?

No, take a taxi. About 16RMB between these two places. Sorry, I don't remember the names of the hotels. I did not stay there, just visited for a day.
