Krabi Things To Do

I've only got three full days. So many fine choices. Big time conflicted. Maybe have to do a return visit to do tackle more than just the highlights. Looking for feedback on these places and suggestions on other things to see and do.

Ground Day: Hire a car to see Emerald Pool, Tiger Temple and Hot Spring waterfall?

Sea Day: Hire a boat to go snorkling and picinic on several of the islands?

Staying at the Sheraton Krabi Beach Resort - how will I be situated in relationship to some of these places? Is there a close grouping that would be easiest to get to?

It doesn't take a full day to do the Emerald Pool, Tiger Temple and hot springs waterfall... unless you are planning to take a swim in the emerald pool and waterfall... and hike up to the top of the stairs at the tiger temple.

Maeng and I did not see any tigers at the temple. But we saw quite a few monkeys. They will try to grab things from you (cameras, cans of soda, etc) so beware. We did this three-stop tour on the morning of our return flight back to BKK, and had plenty of time to get to the airport in time. But, again, we didn't swim or hike up the long stairway at the tiger temple. Not sure where that stairway went... to a better view?

Emerald Pool is where Maeng and I had to navigate the stepping stones (check my fodors profile photo) on the shortcut back to the parking lot! I would NOT repeat that hike! I'm not cut out for stepping stone hopping!

We had a fun time going to one of the "local" night markets by sidecar taxi. What a fun way to get around! Quite a nice ride, up in the hills at dusk, where the air is cooler. Definitely take a ride in a sidecar taxi, if you can find them around the Sheraton. They were all over Ao Nang.

Maeng and I also did about 4 hours on a speedboat, visiting several of the islands. We are not swimmers, so we didn't need a full day island tour, as we didn't get into the water. It looked heavenly though. If you are a beach person and enjoy relaxing in the sand, you would really like this islands tour.

I loved Krabi! Maeng and I only stayed two nights, at Princeville Resort in Ao Nang, as that is how long she felt she could be away from the Pickled Liver. I'd stay at the Princeville again, as it was handy to boats, restaurants, sidecar taxis, small markets, etc. and still very peaceful and quiet. It sits on the opposite side of the road from the beach, but has a nice secluded feel to it, once you enter the grounds of the resort. Maeng's business partner had stayed there several times and gave us the recommendation.

    Have a great time.

    Carol

It's the Tiger CAVE Temple, not the Tiger Temple. There's no tigers there, just a cave shaped like a Tiger. The climb to the top is very long. Otherwise, there's not much to see.

I greatly enjoyed the hot waterfall and emerald pool. Spent time swimming both (well, sitting in one of the hot pools at the waterfall). By the time we finished the emerald pool, it was lunch time.
