Krabi island tours

We are in for 6 nights; but we will get chance to take tours only for 5 days. So many island tours, don't know which ones to take.
Heard James Bond island is dirty, so cancelled that.
Booked:
Phi Phi with speed boat
Hong island snorkeling and kayaking
Now thinking 3rd one is 4 island hopping (sunset long tail: BBQ dinner) We are staying in Ao Nang and heard Railay beach sunset is really good. 4 island hopping sunset tour is one of the 4 islands but not on Railay. Also, the tour operator themselves have mentioned on the site that get in line fast, else food is gone. My hubby won't like such things.
- Any suggestion, which is the third island tour we can take?
- Heard Phi Phi and Hong are good; but if you have different experience, do let us know.
Also planning to go to Emerald pool, Hot springs, Elephant ride, Krabi fun park, night markets etc.

What is your experience in general and regarding island tours?
What you loved most in Krabi?
And what you really hated?

Thanks a bunch.

The only tours I know of that get great reviews are the John Grey Sea Canoes.

Visiting PhiPhi as a day trip doesn't give you any sense of what it would be like to stay there as it is so crowded with day trippers.

Don't book any tours (maybe except John Grey) ahead of time - wait until you get there to book. Don't book any elephant tours as the elephants are treated very badly. If you really want elephants, you need to go to a couple of well-regarded places in northern Thailand.

Don't spend all of your time on tours. The delight is being at your resort and enjoying the beach and the water.

BTW, Krabi is not an island.

Kayaking tours are good. Thalen Bay or Bor Thor.

Crystal lagoon is good.

You can do combo tours. Thalen bay morning and afternoon crystal lagoon.

Hong and pp tours are good.

Ao Nang beach is average. Much better to do tours.

Railay beach is better but Phra Nang beach is better again. 10 min walk from Railay.

But the tours are more interesting.

I have to agree with Kathie that John Gray Seacanoe is one of the best island tours, it takes you to Phang Nga Bay and you will get to see a few islands and caves. It is a great tour.

Again, as Kathie said, Phi Phi day trip isn’t great, if you are trying to find one more day to do something, why not go to Phi Phi for two days, get there as early as possible and take the last ferry out. Me personally I prefer to go there for two nights/three days, because the ferry times are not very flexible. Find a hotel along the long beach away from the main beach. When you get to the jetty, you'll need to get a little long tail boat to the other beach, its a lot better than the main beach.

Railay beach is beautiful, you can get a longtail from Ao Nang, just hire one by yourself, they dont cost a lot. Its a lot better than doing the tour with the mounds of tourists that go along. Best bet is to get up as early as possible, go down to Krabi town and hire a longtail boat to take you around. Take a packed lunch of whatever you like and plenty of water, you'll have a great time and have more freedom that way.

The emerald pool is amazing, but again, you must get there really early because after around 10am when people start to get there, the water becomes less clear because of the sand that gets kicked up from people swimming. Dont get me wrong, its still very beautiful and still clean water, but you will not regret getting there early because when there is nobody there, you will be totally amazed from the clear water.

Some of the popular destinations are diabolical, just an awful insight into human nature.

We had really bad experiences on KPP Don and Lei. Just packed with boats and no room to move, a similar problem at Railay, where I had to position our RIB to create some swimming space on the beach and stop the long tails potentially ripping swimmers to shreads.

Koh Hong (Krabi) was also very busy but very, very pretty.

In total contrast, we took our boat up to the NE coast of Phang Nga bay where unbelievably stunning locations were deserted, just nobody there. Rent a longtail and ask them to go to Koh Chong Lat, Koh Roi or Koh Kodu Yai. They are over-run....with Brahminy Kites, White tailed sea eagles and huge fruit bats but not tacky tourists!
